摘要

Existing published methods for the calculation of heat-transfer coefficients in design for condensation on tube bundles do not represent the interactive effects of interfacial shear and condensate inundation. With significant shear the heat-transfer process is two-phase forced convection and an appropriate correlation is derived in this paper using published data from small-scale experiments on both triangular and square pattern tube bundles. The predictions of methods based on (a) the two-phase correlative approach and (b) a published theoretical model for vapour shear on a single tube together with an inundation term are compared with the data and the relative performance of the methods is discussed.
